Im having problems with using a starfighter USB joystick, I get a message when the joystick is plugged in a
usb slot from windows saying that a function driver was not specified
for this device. the motherborad in question is an ASUS A7N266-VM. My
printer works fine so the USB port is OK, I think that I need a driver
for this joystick, the gameport connection works, but the flight sim is a little
jittery when I use the joystick. It works fine on a 2 year old Gigabyte
MB. The only extra peice of hard ware that is installed is a Radeon 9000 graphics
card. Can you suggest anything or do I buy a new joystick with
drivers!

1. uninstall all joystick software.
2. remove joystick from device manager.
3. disconnect joystick
4. reboot and make sure that the joystick is not listed in the Device Manager after rebooting.
5. install joystick software (do not connect the joystick at this point)
6. connect joystick when prompted.

This is no drivers at all for the Starfighter USB joystick.
So, if the above does work, get a new joystick as there is no driver for that joystick.
Maybe if you try adding new hardware and set it as 3axis-4 button j/stick?
