nth pass and its bitrate

after doing 2 passes on a movie, am i able to change the bitrate or do it have to start all over aging for the 3 pass and so on

you need to do at least two _more_ passes if you change something in the avi or change the bitrate.
The first extra pass you added will give and modify the stat file so that divx can "plan its approach" on the second pass.

hmm, I don't really agree. For example I could run two passes and change the bitrate on the third pass and still get a fairly optimal distribution, the reason is that the relative shape of the curve shouldn't change much if at all, and if it does the codec should still be smart enough to compensate. Unless of course if you drastically change the bitrate one more pass should be good enough, IMO anyway.

im just wondering would it make much of a difference anyways
the bitrate calculator sucks in gknot
i almost tripled the bitrate it gave me and just so i can get it to fit nicely into 3 cds.
the bitrate is already at 6500 and i need to increase it! (and there is ac3 along with it)
would i really still need to have it all distrubited nicely?
