xvid video get green picture

I am having trouble playing a video clip that is encoded with XviD Mpeg 4 Codec. When I play it I get a green picture. I have a XviD codec installed ... I think it's the one I installed with the Nimo Codecs Pack v5.0. I'm thinking that the problem may have something to do with either the version of the XviD codec I have installed or maybe with some other codec (possibly DivX) playing back the video instead of the XviD codec. If it is indeed is it the codec setings (the wrong codec playing back the XviD video)I'm linking a
(http://www.cba.ua.edu/~wwatson1/images/codecs.jpg) screen capture of my codec settings. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a particular XviD media player i should try that might solve my problem?

There's your problem right there. Just uninstall that whole thing and install ffdshow. And also use the search feature before making a new thread.

This kind of error can occur to a few avisynth resize filters if you resize with odd #'s or #'s not divisible by 4 or somesuch.

really, uninstall the Nimo Codec Pack does the trick for you????? I have the same problem, but I already tried uninstalling Nimo's codec and install ffdshow, or even tried to reinstalled the xvid codec (to both newer and older version) but none of them seems to be working.


My friend told me he had the same problem, but he couldn't figure out what to do neither, so he just reinstlled the OS, and it sure fix the problem. But he sweared to me that he would never install Nimo's Codec Pack ever again!!!!



So I guess my question is that if there's anything that I can do to fix the green screen problem besides reinstalling my OS?????

You and your friend are not the only ones who had to format and reinstall the os to get rid of nimo. there are loads of such people (andrew386 was a lucky one)

Perhaps you could try booting windows in safe mode (that the correct english term for the mode you get when holding down the F5-key during start-up?) going via the sound&multimedia controll panel --> hardware --> videocodecs and throw out suspicious drivers.

Or unregister the dshow-filters via command-line and remove the .ax's. I haven't tried it for myself though.

One thing you could do is get graphedit, open it, throw in (drag) a meadia file of yours. Then you will see which filters the Directshowsystem loads for the file. Take a screenshot of the graph and post it here in a _reasonable_ resolution.

you have to take into account the "ability level" of the person asking the question. It might well be that he doesn't know graphedit, nor how to properly unregister a codec and is afraid of messing the system more up as it is already. (In which case it shouldn't matter as reformatting was the last working solution anyways ;) ).

It might be easier for all and faster to fresh install the system. If someone is unexperienced and installs Nimo, you most likely won't succeed with "micro surgery" in the windows guts.

khmm ... use a good 'system maintaner/tweaker' for destalling. always! the uninstall 'wizard' of win is not quite reliable and so is most of the uninstaller put on. after destall sweep registry too. (that's only my experience with win98)

ps. i killed nimo (& other 'wonder-packs') with jv16 some times for my (lazy) friends (i hope it's still within the boundaries of 'non-advert' rule :-)
