Hello Everyone,

Please help, I would like to know how to burn .avi home movie files to DVD?

Equipment:
- Panasonic GS70 miniDV Camcorder with 1395
- Computer with 1395 port
- Pinnacle 8 LE Software
- Pioneer DVR-A05 DVD/CD writer
- Pinnacle, Roxio, and Sonic came software came with Pioneer DVR-A05.

I did use Pinnacle 8 LE to move the image from camcorder miniDV to PC then I edit and make movie avi file. 10 minutes movie approximatelly 2 Gigabyte .avi file.

My questions are:
1-How many file contain in movie when I make movie beside .avi file??

2-Which program above that I should use to burn the home movie to DVD??

3-The DVD is 4.7Gbyte so I can only put 20 minutes home movie on the DVD??? because 10 minutes .avi file takes about 2Gbyte. There is any compression that I should use before burn to DVD??

I have never burn a DVD, I just bought it and start reading.

Thank you for all your helps.

You will need to convert and compress the video into DVD format if you want to play it on your home DVD player.

I suggest you really read up on the main site in the many guides and search and read the forum. Without even a basic knowledge you will not get far.

If you just want to play it on you computer then learn about avi codecs and compression. Use the other forums here like the Divx forums as well. There is way too much you need to know right now for somebody to help you through it easily.

Markrb,

Thank you for your helps and directions. After read some of the posts, I installed my just arrived Pionner-A05 into my PC. I finished the very 1st home movie on DVD after 4 hours (mixed from multiples .avi and .mpeg files).

There is alot more I need to read. Thank you again.
