First of all ..thnx for tha great guides guys ...i am one from tha old school...still use old guides ...so i thought let me have a go at the new tools mainly DoCCe4u/Doitfast4u/and reauthorist ...now i tried the new very extended guide..and saw something interesting ..reauthorist seems to calculate the bitrate and the bias automatically.....and this is what it came up with for my main vts :

iqp:15
passes:3
bitrate:4030
bias:45

now its great to see that it chooses a bitrate of 4000+.....however i have a little question about the bias setting. I remember in the old CCE encoding guide that we used to set the bias to 0....because it gave better quality right !!! So why is the bias set at 45 ..and when i bring it down to 0 .....the final file size does not seem to change ..so why does it automatically choose 45 ...should i just always leave the settings as it is ....the extras 1850 ...and i am sure that the movie will come out great !!! So some thought on this question would be great !!! Thnx in advance!!

The 0 bias thing is from the original Robshot method. Since then, the Robshot-Bach (RoBa) method has become more popular for higher quality. This method calls for a bias that depends on the bitrate you are encoding at. Bach's post that explains his reasons for the different CCE settings can be found here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28939).

As far as I know, DoCCE4U and ReAuthorist automatically figure out the "correct" bias according to the bitrate (as called for in the RoBa method). Therefore, you should do pretty well in leaving the bias in ReAuthorist alone, as it's already filled in the optimal setting for you. Hope this helps.

this definetly helps Llama ...infact ...what you are saying is that these tools are becoming soo much more intelligent ...that we almost do not have do do anything :) weeeee.......:) heheheh...thnx for tha link !!!

One more little question in the guide it says that when dealing with interlaced pal sources you have two options. The fisrt is to deinterlace the picture and the second is to encode the PGC as it is -interlaced......am i correct when i say that option 1 is better than option 2. Which is the better option when it comesz to qulaity and not speed!!!

From reading the guide, it looks like you've got it right. The second way isn't actually doing anything, it's just keeping the stuff interlaced. Therefore, I'd imagine it's better to take the longer route and make it progressive. That being said, I only do NTSC stuff and haven't messed with interlaced material at all. As far as I know though, progressive is always better than interlaced..

thnx again for tha reply:))) if soething goes wrong during the encoding do you ahve to start the whole project all over again ..or can you simply just press the play button again on Docce4u and things will pick up where they left???
