Hi people!
Have you noticed that the Elta 8882 and the Woxter xdiv 500 look too much alike? Are they really the same device? What's the secret behing this? Elta is based in Germany and Woxter in China. They look quite like 2 different corporations, but being both dvd players so similar makes me wonder...

I can't definitely confirm this to you, but I own a WAITEC DVX-400 and I flashed it yesterday with Woxter's latest firmware (woxter_xdiv_player_upgrade108-1.0.0.20.zip, from the Spanish language page), supposedly to work with 3.11 DivX....
well, 3.11 works but still stutters and freezes frames (audio goes on as usual) when I have high-bitrate scenes.
4.x and 5.x work flawlessy, unless Q-pel was selected (in that case, I'll have to redo encoding... sigh....).
I'm gonna try elta's firmware update (8882 MP4_Firmwareupdate 1.0.0.6_3_4_5_7_1172003.zip) tonight, and let you know if I have major improvements.
Anyone else tried WAITEC or its clones?

well,
it seems that the best firmware supporting DivX 3.11 is Woxter's: less stuck frames, smoother playing, compliant after all with a couple of test-DivX5 and XviD's I tried.
waiting for next "official" releases from elta and Waitec.

I also flashed my elta 8882 with the woxter firmware and it does play divx3 files better but not flawless jet...:(
The DivX-3.11-Datenstroms are converted in software on the fly and hunted only then by the decoder chip EM85x0. This processor isn't so fast so there are a few problems with the high encoded divx files.
The Firmware needs to be optimized but that's my opinion.
Nevertheless the owners of other DivX suited DVD Player might to be burned as the Elta 8882 MP4 (1:1 identically constructed with Waitec DVD-X4), Scott 842 , LiteOn LVD-2001 and Xoro HSD420 to likewise teach to their Playern DivX 3,11. Asks oneself only how?
That, which it not to expect can, until manufacturers their equipment suitable version brings out, which the circumstance comes to property that the later Player with exception of the LiteOn equipment, which uses an extended firmware uses everything in fact the same firmware. As soon as thus one brings the manufacturer a DivX-3.11 firmware, one can flashen this also on one the other Player.
