I've used GordianKnot in combination with Divx5 for quite some time now to encode some of my DVDs. I'm a relative amateur, but I have been able to get pretty good results with my rips/encodes. I recently bought a digital video camera (miniDV - Sony)...when I capture the video files onto my computer, they are HUGE (ie. 6Gb for a 30min clip!) I was thinking of encoding them into DivX files to save space while keeping some good quality. Any advice on the best way to do this? I use Adobe Premiere to edit my files, & there's an option to save my projects with DivX encryption...would this work, or should I use another application like GordianKnot for better results? I also saw that DivX has a new application (Dr. DivX) for encoding...is it any good? Thanks for any advice.
P.S.- I apologize if this has been answered in another thread or forum...I searched through the FAQs & other forums, & couldn't find any definitive help.
