View Full Version : Soundlevel is incredible low after encoding, why?

I've earlier used ver. 0.27 of GK to backup my DVDs. It's been workin allright. After uninstalling 0.27 and installing 0.28 instead with the codec-pack and the latest updates (0.28.4) I've experienced an annoying problem. After encoding, the movie has an incredible low soundlevel. I've followed the guide correctly, and compared many of the settings to what in 0.27. I cannot find the problemsource.

My solution after many-many encodings with low soundlevel could be to reinstall 0.27 since it works, but I really want to get the 0.28 working since I've heard that 0.28 is much more faster.

Yes, I am a so called "newbie" so I don't really know much about how everything works in this program and about backup of DVDs in general, so I really hope someone more experienced can help me. Is it also possible to import a setting-profile (*.gks-file) from anyone of you that might help me? I might have missed something I really can't figure out... :(

Welcome to the forum!

Here's a link (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43761&highlight=low+volume/url) to a thread from the Gordian Knot forum in which this problem was discussed. If this doesn't fix your specific problem, run a search over there and see what you come up with. Good luck!

I've now tried several of the solutions described from the link ammck55 referred to without any help. I've played the file from the dvd2avi project in Win Media Player, and the soundlevel is still very low. Is it any settings in DVDDecrypter or DVD2AVI I've forgotten to configure ? Any ideas anyone ?

(My english is still not very good, I hope I've described it good enough.)

well, i'd say it has nothing to do with your audio, but rather with the ac3 filter. if you haven't installed ac3filter (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/ac3filter_0_68b.exe) with gknot, do it now, otherwise you might check if it is activated and in use! In the filter properties (accessible either trough the start menu or through bsplayer if it is used to play an ac3 file) you can increase the playback volume significantly most of the time!

hope this helps
