View Full Version : Help! Cannot get transcoding + IfoEdit to work

I know this is a much discussed topic, but I really need some help. (I've spent HOURS reading guides and forum posts and I'm still really lost.)

Here's what I want to do - should be really simple:
1. Transcode the video in one of my title sets to a lower bitrate (this is for a DVD movie btw, not my own/original material).
2. Use IfoEdit->VobExtras->ReMux and give it the new m2v file.
3. Have it work

I've tried CCE, TMPGEnc, and ReMPEG2 - all as the guides say - and nothing really seems to be working right. The transcoded m2v files seem to play okay in my media player (except in CCE the length of the movie is a LOT smaller - everything seems to be there, but the total time is like 1/3 of what it should be).

Anyway, when I remux it in IfoEdit, the chapters do not match up at all and the video playback is choppy. If I skip ahead to a new chapter, the audio goes out of sync (the audio chapter points are correct, but the video is not). Does the ReMux feature of IfoEdit work? Are the guides outdated or inaccurate? I really appreciate any help I can get with this!
