View Full Version : ReAuthorist Feature Request: Audio Compression

I've just begun to use ReAuthorist and I'm finding it to be a very handy program indeed. Recently I've been recompressing some japanese DVDs and many of them have the tendancy to have the audio as uncompressed PCM.

Now, obviously this is a big waste of space in my mind. Would it be possible to add AC3 encoding functionality into ReAuthorist via AC3machine? This would allow me to more easily intergrate ac3 encoding into the scenarist project and work out the new available bitrate for the video stream.

I think the benefits are obvious for dvds with pcm source.

also extars win 5.1 audio could be reencoded to 2.0 to save space
or 2.0 to lower bitrate

would be a great feature

Hi there,

As much as I like to accomodate my users' requests, I think on this occasion I'll need to deny the request... or at least put it very late on in my task list. I can see the benefits of doing it, but I see it as non-core functionality - sorry! Still, if you can figure out the file naming you'll need following a reencode then RA will pick up your AC3 and put it in the right place :D

I'm with Aqua on this one. AC3 encoding would definately be a great feature, but I think getting RA to authour VOB/Cell ID demuxed projects should be higher on the list. Then again, being Aqua's program, he probably has his own set of priorities ;)
