No Audio with MIB2, video ok

I honestly did search the forums as best as I can. I've spent many hours these last 5 days. I either don't understand the answer or don't know the right question. Here is goes. I have DVD Decrypter, DVD2One, IFOedit(never used this yet), and DVDtoolbox(read that a number of people have it). I have backuped up 3 DVD's so far, no problem using DVD Decrypter and DVD2One. But when I tried MIB2 I got messed up. I ripped it just like the others. But when I tested with PowerDVD I only get video for the first 20min of the movie. All the other were fine. Then the audio comes in. I've ripped it several times. Same outcome. I created an ISO file and use Daemon tools to mount it. Dvd plays fine. I'm not trying anything fancy. All I want to do is backup the DVD to a DVD+r so I can play it in my DVD player. What am I missing. PLease help. In reading other posts I kinda pieced together that maybe I need to rip the movie and demux(whatever that means). Then magically sync the video and sound using something. Well I tried using DVD2AVI. I got an AVI and a AC3 file. I can then use PowerDVD to watch the video OR listen to the music. Not exactly what I want. Help:scared:

hi,
as i see nobody has answered to your post yet. while i still do not know the exact answer to your problem i still want to suggest, that you try another program. it is very simple, well documented and free so there's not really any reason why you shouldn't try it.

the program is DVDShrink.

Thanks. Have since given up. I also purchase "Basic" and it does the same thing. I have examples of many successfull bkups so I don't think it is my process. Basically I ripped in IFO using DVD Decrypter. Then uses DVD2ONE for the sizing. When using PowerDVD I get no sound for the first VOB. I saw a post that maybe there is a FBI warning that is causing this. I'll try to remove the cell and see what happens.

I'm actually quite new to all this myself but have been learning very quickly the last few weeks. I always rip in file mode - that way I have a complete working DVD structure for sure on the HD that I can then strip or change later. DVD Shrink is a real killer tool -you should try that before any "demuxing" (seperating the video from the audio).
One reason for not getting any audio is if you removed some audio streams in the ripping process. The remaing empty "adress" is read by the player and says - no audio. You can try the next audio strem in PDVD or with the remote on your standalone. If that works its due to the above.

For those of you having the same issue, I have found that PowerDVD has a bug where certain ripped DVD's play no sound even though the video is fine. This was true with MIB2 and Basic. In both cases after using DVD-Decrypter in IFO mode the resulting video lacked any audio when played with PowerDVD, therefore I never burned it. After reviewing a different forum I found that burning the DVD regardless will play fine in a stanfard DVD player. Hooah! Finally.

Good tip on the PowerDVD bug. For another tool to check DVD play, you can try the built-in player in IFOedit.

In certain cases the ripped file will have the default language missing. Powere DVD reads this (empty) language by default.
If you press the language button it will change to the "next" language and work. This is not a bug, the remaining language should really be re-mapped to "80" or the player told to play 81 with a pre-command.

jsjba2000 - Hi - I found MIB2 [PAL] a hassle; but this worked:

Don't shrink main title [it's small]
Either don't shrink menu or shrink by very little
Don't remove any subtitle streams [bar those clearly labelled as being specific foreign languages]
Leave all Eng Lang audio
- I also deleted the [rubbish] trailers & 'training video' to win a fair bit of space.

- most of the compression therefore went into the last VOB-set - this is the interactive stuff.
