it seems to me that the matroska parser(0.4.3) is becoming a little problematic.
i mean its great that it now suports subtitles and aac but seeking is starting to become jerky.
when i seek in a file(with keyframes) it seems to pause for a few miliseconds, the first versions of the parser didnt used to behave like this. and when i seek in a file with no keyframes it takes about half a minute to start playing.

what i mean is that as the filter is evolving it is loosing the simplyness (is taht correct?) that i liked so much in it...

Or am i wrong and something in my pc changed that afects this?...

PD. matroska team dont worry i dont mean to be negative or agresive i know the format its just starting ;) I just want to know if im right or not...:D

Wenn adding new functionalitites there is alsways a chance to break existing things. Anybody to confirm this ?

What CPU power do you have ?
If the file is big with many keyframes, the search for the adequate keyframe to seek too may take some time on a slow CPU.
Some workaround :
- disable Cue entry use on such machines (will be an option in a future version)
- improve the search speed (also planned)

I did some more testing last night with latest parser and saw nothing like this. Latest parser works great. No pauses after seeking or jerkyness. Tell more about your clips. What codec are you using for encoding? What settings? Maybe it's just that your cpu can't handle decoding. Use ffdshow for decoding. Things like Qpel need lots of cpu power. Too high post processing settings etc. Does your pure video avi file play fine? If yes do mkv file with just video. How does it play? If fine now add the audio. Try with different audio types. How do you mux your matroska files? What tools are you using? What settings? Don't use mkvmerge gui. Do it cli. If you're trying to play that Star Wars clip most of the people are having jerkyness problems with it.

Ok here...

CPU P4 1.8 Ghz
128 Ram
HD 7500Rpm 40G

Now the clip is in divx3 in cbr mp3
it is a videoclip im downloading now what i did was to open the temporal file in Vdubmod this way i get an incomplete avi and Vdubmod fixes (it just doesnt know where the keyframes are) it i just put direct stream copy and save to matroska.

in Vdub mod i enable Lacing Index all frames index clusters and write last cluster size.

i have disbaled all of this options and same thing.

As you see i wont die if this isnt fixed (i'll just wait untill i get the movie with keyframes indexed) but i was just curious why this happenned since i have been doing this since the begining of matroska and it used to work great.

PD. in another clip Xvid Mp3 Vbr (Indexed fully working and correctly made with virtualdubmod) i still get something like a 200 milliseconds pause when i seek.

[Edit]
Problem Solved...

Seems to me the latest parser got a memory hole - bsplayer's memory consumption rising to 125 MB within 10 minutes... Sorry to say that, Chris.

I was told latest BSPLayer is coming with its own parser filter ( makes 3  ), are you sure our filter is used ? Look at the properties page of the filter, if you ROTFL its our filter ;) ...

Unfortunately, it really is that 'sucking':D Matroska filter.

And it happens in any player. I also checked whether it could be the new ffdshow alpha but it's the same without it.
