Copying and Pasting codec settings from an existing rip

Hi all,
I have an xvid avi rip that I want to hard sub. I have found all necessary virtualdub filters, I now need to find a way to import all codec settings of the existing non hardsubbed avi file onto the codec setup settings in virtualdub in order to re encode the avi file with the subs. What is the best way/tool for doing this?

To my knowledge thats impossible, but better ask the xvid guys which settings (if any at all) get saved into the avi.

I don't think you can do that. And your better off re doing the whole movie from the DVD because otherwise you'll lose allot of quality from having to re-encode using the avi as your source.
