Hi all,

I need an urgent help regarding reauthorist+doitfast4u+docce4u
I have followed the instructions and it does not work
I am not a newbie and I have been backing up several DVDs with the old method CCE+ifoupdate+scenarist, etc... for ages but this time I can't figure out what's going wrong
This is what 's happening whatever DVD I am trying to backup

I used the latest versions of each softwares:
doitfast4u
docce4u
reauthorist
avisynth
CCE 2.5 (that's not the latest one :)
scenarist 2.6
reauthorist 1.0.0
So I inserted the DVD and let doitfast4u do its job (I demuxed everything)
I don't use any daemon tools so doitfast4u launched dvd decryptor to decrypt the dvd
when it is finished, reauthorist is launched and from there I unticked the audio, subtitles I don't want
I pressed autosize and encode and waited patiently until CCE finished its job
Then I pressed author and imported the script in scenarist
Scenarist generated the layout without any problem

in the \0 directory I ended up with all the vob and ifo files
I moved all the vobs files in the VIDEO_TS directory created by doitfast4u
This directory contains the original ifo files if I am correct
I then ran ifoupdate with the original ifo files being the ones in this directory and the authored ones in the \0
I used ifoupdate in standard mode
At that stage and according to the help files, I should be ok
however I tested in powerdvd xp and powerdvd generated an error "unknown file format"
I have this error with all the dvd backed up using this method
I can get it right no matter what I try
I also need to mention that all the DVDs are in PAL format.

I would appreciate if anybody could help me because I really want to use this method and CCE
I had to use IC to back up these dvds but I 'd rather prefer this method

Thanks for any help

That sounds like more of a file association problem than any of these tools. What happens if you try and open a vob manually without using the ifo's? Might be also worth checking to make sure file extensions are shown. If you open up Windows Exoplorer, and goto tools > folder options > view and make sure the "hide extensions for known file types" is unticked.

@emistral:

Strange error you are getting there! As an alternative, are you able to use IfoEdit's DVD Play feature to preview the DVD?

@brashquido: I haven't tried to play a single vob without using the IFO. I don't think it is a file association problem because I can play without any problem DVD backed up with IC or any other tools. It only happens when I use this method. to be on the safe side and narrow down the problem, I installed another dvd player (winfast DVD player). This time, it seems the player can play the movie but I have not access to the menus, etc.... I don't really trust this type of player but it gave me an idea

@aquabubble: I tried to play the DVD using IFOedit. The DVDs start , and I have access to the menus but that's it.

I might burn the DVD on a RW and give it a try on my standalone player but most of the time when I can not play the dvd on powerdvd, it does not play on my standalone. Any other idea would be welcome

Any other dvd player software to suggest so that I can try if it is a problem with powerdvd. I have never had this problem with powerdvd before and I have backed up more than 50 dvds

Thinking about it, I think I've seen that error in PowerDVD. From memory I got it when I created a iso of a DVD from a file mode rip. Even though the file mode rip worked fine in PowerDVD, when I mounted the iso in daemon tools and tried to play it, it asked me what region I wanted to set it to, then no matter what I chose it gave me a unkown file format error. However, once I reauthored thos projects, they never had a problem playing so I never gave it anymore thought.

Only thing I can think of is to use the tried and tested method and just try ripping the movie to iso first, then daemon tools, then DoItFast4U. You might also want to have a gander at Cyberlinks knowledge base if you have the time.

hmmzz.I have tried this method for teh first time today as well...and i also seem to get the same problem!!!! I am wondering what it is ...i have looked at one of the PGC's in the 1st VTS..and it seems that it might be corrupt.....or scenarist corrupted it while muxin .....or encoding it corrupted it ..all my vts 's and pgc's were interlaced so i used the script option to deintrelace it ....hmmzzz.....i wonder whether it could be one of these that migth be causing the problem!!!!

The isomount method was developed for a reason guys. We don't just invent these things out of thin air to make stuff harder for you. If you still have issues AFTER you use the way we recommend, then we'll look into solutions. As of now, all I see is some people that refuse to accept suggestions thinking they can bypass a (much recommended) step of the guide!

well I have found out the reason ....i do not know why but the 1st PGC got totally corrupted after it was re-encoded :(...strange ..I think it has nothing to do with the big three......I do not know why ..but i could be because of the fact that my computer was doing a couple of more things at the same time >.....heheh...that is usually not wise anyways ...so.....just my 2 cents :)))....I installed daemon tools today ..and am buys with it right now :) and till now all seems .well.....so just as Eyes Only said ...try to accept teh suggestions and use them :)..Thnx Eyes Only :)
