DVD2SVCD refuses to encode a 16:9 to 4:3 with borders

I've been having a very annoying problem lately..DVD2SVCD v1.1.3 build 2 (latest build) refuses to correctly encode a 16:9 film as 4:3 with borders, it always encodes as 16:9 so the resulting encode is stretched on my 4:3 sets.

Odd thing is, i'm sure the aspect ratio ("16:9 (borders added, encoded as 4:3)") is set correctly in DVD2SVCD, as i've been using this program for a pretty long time now..I had to reinstall my OS twice since this problem occured (for other reasons), and the problem keeps persisting. Anyone have a clue as to what's going on?

I'm using DVD2SVCD v1.1.3 build 2, avisynth 2.5, and CCE 2.67 with EclCCE.

actually, i'm pretty sure i'm doing it right (as i mentioned earlier, i've been using DVD2SVCD for quite a while now). However, i've been playing around with DVD-R's a lot lately so I neglected dvd2svcd for a bit, then I upgraded all my dvd2svcd apps before using it again and now i'm having problems - i thought it may be a known bug.

While encoding, it even has "FS" in the saved filename, which leads me to believe that although it realizes it's 16:9 somewhere along the line it starts to think it's FS or something..

I dunno, I guess i'll reinstall all my old apps and see what results I get.

Hi there,

just make sure you don't have the "DVD compliant" option ticked in DVD2SVCD's "Encoder|Advanced settings" - this can be the cause for this problem.

Thanks for the tip...upon checking Encoder->Advanced Settings, I didn't even see the word DVD. I did see an empty space between "Zigzag scanning order" and "Progressive frames" -- maybe it originally belonged there? I dunno what's up with my setup, but this is truly odd :(

just a followup...
i finally finished the DV->DVD-R encodes my system was busy working on encoding and got around to installing CCESP 2.50, redirected dvd2svcd to this and voila, my problems disappeared. When I was working on those DV->DVD-R encodes with CCESP 2.67, I noticed an option for selecting 4:3 or 16:9 output...i'm assuming that may be the problem? I'll try to mess around with it when I get some more time...

I'll try out an older version (2.66 maybe?) and see if I still have the same problems.
