Ligos LSX-MPEG Player

You know to this day, I still don't know which of my encoding/ripping software installs this crappy Ligos LSX-MPEG Player. Everytime I set it to only play mpeg-2 files, it always somehows manages to reset itself and play mpeg-1 files again. Does anyone here know how to actually make it only play mpeg-2 files without having it keep resetting? Better yet, Can someone tell me what it installs with or how to completely remove Ligos LSX-MPEG Player. This is the stuff I use

As far as I know, none of the software you mention installs Ligos LSX-Mpeg Player. The softwares I know installs it are Ulead Mediastudio 6.5 and if you have a G450 eTV Matrox card, it comes with the software for capturing (PC-TV).
What version of Ligos LSX-Mpeg Player do you have?
I've used 3.0, 3.5 and now 4.0. They work great, especially for outputting interlaced video via TV-Out. And if I set it in the LSX-Mpeg Player Configuration to play Mpeg-2 only, it doesn't play Mpeg-1 anymore.

It also installs as part of the Ligos 3.5 MPEG encoding suite.

From my perspective, it's not the decoder itself, but rather the player.

To clarify: Ligos LSX-Mpeg Player is just a set of DirectShow filters. It's an Mpeg 1, 2 and 4 decoder (LSX-Mpeg Player 4.0 includes a filter for playing Mpeg-4, previous versions can only play Mpeg-1 and Mpeg-2 files), an Mpeg Splitter and Mpeg Audio filter.
It is not a playback application.
And they're good filters, especially for those of us with Matrox cards who wants to output interlaced video via DVDMax (the TV-out feature on Matrox cards).
Ligos also makes a software called LSX-Mpeg Suite, which includes an encoder (LSX-Mpeg Encoder) and the Mpeg 1, 2 (& 4) decoding (playback) filters (LSX-Mpeg Player).

Agreed, it is not a fullblown player application, ala Cinemaster, WinDVd, or PowerDVD, but I made the distinction because if you install the Ligos 3.5 MPEG suite, as I recall, it installs what it 'refers to' as a 'player' which simply sets the preferences for the use of the codecs. As WhyBee pointed out, however, this setting utility is forever screwing up.

These days I simply install the Ligos codecs using a batch file, which completely avoids the settings utility altogether.

The name "player" is misleading.
I guess I've been lucky, as the configuration utility has worked flawlessly for me. And I want it to play Mpeg-2, but not Mpeg-1. :)
I've instead been annoyed when installing WinDVD and it takes over from my beloved Ligos filters. :D
But, there is a way around it, if one is a bit daring.
Download Zoom Player and install it.
Go to the Player Options and then to Manual Filters.
Select Registered Filters Manager.
Find Ligos there. Lower the merit.
If the ones you want as default are not at the highest merit, raise them.
As I said, it's not for those with weak nerves. But that's how I beat WinDVD's filters and let Ligos take control again. The opposite is of course also possible.
