What codec is the AVI encoded in?
It's also entirely possible that your (downloaded, admit it) movie was just poorly encoded and/or you don't have the proper codecs.

Maybe you should just kick the encoder in the nuts and tell him to get his shnit together then :p Then poke yourself in the eye for downloading, tisk tisk.
I've told you all I can.

Hi there,
or try to use the VFAPI instead as a frameserver - as it uses RGB colorspace only this sometimes cured this nasty pinkyness. Enable the "safe mode frameserving" option in "Encoder" tab to use it.
Or, edit your AviSynth script and enter a "ConvertToRGB24()" statement before the resize parameter - can be of help also.
Or, enter a "FixBrokenChromaUpsampling()" before the resize statement.
This behaviour is sometimes caused by some special MS codecs which mess up the colorspace conversions - what else it's from MS. ;)
