Does DVD2AVI contain DECSS or anything similar?

Hello there guys,

I am wondering if DVD2AVI contains anything like DECSS or similar decrypting tools. If it does I cannot use it because of the laws in the United States. Please can someone give me some solid evidence that this software is LEGAL in the U.S please. Thanks in advance.

The official Version does not contain any decrypting functions.

Look for a DLL called FreeDVD.DLL or similar. AFAIK all versions of DVD2AVI can use it. But it's not recomended. I rewrote it once. You can create a D2V from an encrypted DVD with it. And then older versions of MPEG2Dec can use the same DLL to do the decoding straight from the DVD.

But none of this is recommended. I remember Doom9 saying he ruined a DVD Drive once by doing this. And they'd be no IFO parsing.

@neo_born: DVD2AVI does not actually contain any DeCSS code itself however, so it does not break any laws at all. But remember its GPL'd code, and that applies, depending on what you do with it.
