I swear I have searched the forum for my questions and I have read the faq's so I have found answers to some of my questions but the others I will post here so please dont yell if they have been answered because i swear I did look for them. My burner is a PHILLIPS dvd+rw sdvd6004 it is inside the dell inspiron 5100 notebook that i bought a week ago and I have to admit I dont know anything about the whole burning scene I dont know the lingo or anything so first off is there a dummies guide somewhere that lets me know what a VOB is or an ISO is without using all the big words that i dont understand?

1. I am using the intervideo dvd copy trial version and after I decrypt the dvd using dvd decrypter and when I try to burn it, it keeps telling me that I am missing chapters from the source and that it cant burn the dvd any info on that.

2. I am looking for a program that is the easiest way to burn dvd's I thought that intervideo would be since all you have to do is hit one button but that seems not to be working for me. Is there a list of all dvd burning programs? I have downloaded ifo edit, dvd toolbox, dvd fab, and img tool and I am completely lost. I am not asking for the best I just would like to know what all the options are for burning dvd's. I just want to make backups of mine and am having problems figuring out all of my options for burning.

3. it has come to my attention that there are some dvd's that when tryting to decode them they will fry your computer, a friend tried to decode tears of the sun with bruce willis (out yesterday) and there was literelly smoke coming out of his computer are there other movies like this or is there anyway to tell which dvd's can bust up your computer while trying to decode them.

4. I know this sounds stupid so bear with me, you have to decode every dvd correct there is no way just to copy from dvd to dvd+r, someone told me you could and i was under the impression that you had to decode them first no matter what.

thanks for all your help in advance and please dont kill the stupid people or the beginners remember there was a time when you didnt have any idea what this stuff meant either! :)

PLEASE HELP!!!

Kelly

sorry no experience with your program. perhaps you might want to tell us a bit more about the DVD you're trying to backup. if you just told us the title and region we could find most other information, but if you can provide more yourself it would be easier for us!

do you mean burn DVDs or backup DVDs? if you want to just burn an iso- copy of a DVD to a DVD-R I'd go for DVDDecrypter or Nero, If you want to do a fast backup of a commercial DVD try to check out DVD Shrink (guide) (http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvdshrink2-main.htm) It is really straightforward to use and you will have a wonderful backup in almost no time!

I'd call this an urban legend :D - no seriously. no DVD can fry your computer. if this has happened to your friend his computer had sever damage/problems before!

no you cannot. If you have a DVD-5 (single layer - the ones that have the same size than your DVD-R) you can make an iso copy (dvd image - exact replica) and then again burn this to DVD. you cannot copy commercial DVDs directly because they are encrypted!

hey, c'mon. we aren't going to kill anybody. just because some users that display extreme stupidiy etc get barked at a bit doesn't mean we're going to eat anybody that asks a newbie question alive ;)

hope this was what you expected
