Hi,

i'm trying to create a subbed SVCD with dvd2svcd.
My standalone dvd is JVC N33 that support svcd subs.

I tried with svcd subs and cvd subs, but i can't activate it on standalone.

I tried to burn the subbed mpg with nero and with vcdeasy.
Possible i have to burn subs's folder too?

I must burn only the cue file created by vcdxbuild?

Thanks

Try to encode with permanent subtitles. Not many standalone players support SVCD subs.

is this your player JVC XV-N33SL ?? gierre, if it is then it should support svcd subs. trie to download the sample cds and give it a shot.
here is the link where you can find the images that you should use to make the compatibility tests

I have the same DVD-player from JVC (XV-N33SL), and I cannot get the subtitles on my screen as well. I tried all the test-files, and I made several test SVCD's myself.
I used SVCD as well as CVD subtitles and even tried both subtitle types with two different image-builders (VCDImager & VCDXBuild)

According to the manual of my player (http://www.jvc.nl/files/instruction_manual/gnt0024-020a.pdf or in english: http://books.jvcservice.com/download/270574867/29182.pdf) it should be no problem to turn subtitles on and off.
When I place a SVCD with subtitles in my DVD-player it does even show me a little pictogram to tell me that there are subtitles available !!!

I even tried a little theorie of myself: I thought: maybe my player is putting the subtitles somewhere outside the screen. so I created a few SVCD's with subtitles in the center of my movie. But still nothing was visible.

I only part of creating SVCD's for wich I only tried one program is the burning of cd's. I always use NERO. But since the images are already created, that shouldn't make any difference, should it?

Now I'm thinking of calling JVC, unless someone in this
has a very bright idea.....
In that case... please tell me

greetings,
John24

Is there ANY standalone out there that can show svcd- or cvd-subtitles? Permanent subs is no choice for me, but I'm about to buy a new player soon.

Where can I find the test-images?

Maybe people can share their experiences in this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63892 ... get test images e.g. here (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/svcd).
