hi guys,
i've just started to get into DVD to DVd-R backup and this is the first time I'm trying to use 'The Big 3'.
This said, here's my problem:
The DVD I'm trying to backup is for sure not the easiest one: Triple X, REgion 1, fullscreen release. The movie is rather long (124min) and it contains quite a huge amount of extras that are done fairly well. Anyway, as i live in region 2 and this disk has got RCE i wanted to do a full backup to get rid of the RCE and be able to watch it on my standalone (yes it can play NTSC although it is PAL :D)
everything went more or less fine until i'm trying to import the *.scp file into scenarist. it starts working and works for quite a while, but after some time it gives me the following error and stops:

Info: Validateing Video (VTS01\VTS__01_P01.4~3_1)
Warning This Video [ H:\tripleX\VTS01\VTS__01_P01.4~3_1.MPV ] has different duration.
Error: the video is used by angle or story track [vts_01_pgc_01]
Error: Importing failed

I of course started to search the forum, but haven't really come up with anything (:

thanks for any help
steVe
edit: added some more info to the quote (:

ok, little update: i tried to build the files in scenarist anyway and i was successful. but now i have huge difficulties when using ifoupdate. somehow i think the two problems are connected! here's (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=327011#post327011) the thread!

Hi killingspree,

This wouldn't happen to be a multi-angle PGC would it?

ahmm... iirc no... but i'd have to check... it's just a 14 min extra though so i doubt it... i'm not at home right now, but i'll check as soon as i get home again...

thanks

ok... sorry for not replying for such a rather long time... no it is just a single PGC single angle 14 minute VTS set...
i still have to do a reencode though

hi,
just wanted to say that i've solved the problem. i've just encoded a blankclip() avisynth script with the same length than the original PGC in CCE, muxed it with the original AC3 (i know this is a waste of space but i had calculated 400 megs for this VTS set anyway) in scenarist and then replaced it with the broken encode. done an ifoupdate and voilá, everything is fine.

oh and @ aquabubble: i've since tried encoding another real multi angle movie and i have to say the problems that appear in the above mentioned vts set look exactly the same as a multi angle vob file encoded like a normal one...
strange as i'm 100% sure it isn't multi angle!

Hi killingspree,

Thanks for getting back to me on this problem and your solution. Very strange indeed!

Anyhoo, the same error that you get with a real multi-angle PGC could be down to the current itegration with DoCCE4U. In the next day or so I will be releasing a new version of RA with support for the new DoCCE file format that BBWoof and I have been working on. This sets the maximum number of frames for each angle, which needs to be the same for each stream for Scenarist to work properly. Currently, RA does adjust this max number of frames, but DoCCE4U has been unable to take my settings across so you may get angles with different numbers of frames - a manual adjustment of the AVS or the ECL will get over this problem.

any changes on this one? i see docce4u stopped at b1.0.1.5 and batchccews is in the works. I am having this problem currently with a multi-pgc, multi-angle dvd. I'll try to edit the ecl directly.

the ecl was correct...used the new batchccews and had to manually check "angle" which i guess closes gop's so scenarist imported correctly. so that problem is over...now i have a new one...the size comes out wacky at 5.7gb? i'll probably start a new thread but scenarist reports the size as 4.4gb before muxing and then after muxed...5.7gb wild...
