View Full Version : Wrong PGC Length in ReAuthorist

I've been trying to backup several different movies (The Ring, Minority Report) using DIF4U/DC4U and ReAuthorist. I've read the guide over and over, and can't find anything wrong with my setup. Following processing in DIF4U, ReAuthorist opens but identifies my main movie PGC as a 15 frame segment. I read the other post about incorrect bitrates, but my AVS (2.52) files play fine in WMP. This same thing has happened on several different DVDs (I did get a third movie to work, using the same settings as the others). I looked through the ReAuthorist log, and found this:

20:23:47 Processing structure...
20:23:47 Found VTS01 PGCs 01 through 01. Listing properties...
20:23:47 VTS01 PGC01 has 2 chapters
20:23:47 VTS01 PGC01 video:
20:23:47 Angle 0, 16:9, 15 frames, 909404.498 fps, duration 00:00:00:15, original bitrate 67332400
20:23:47 VTS01 PGC01 audio:
20:23:47 AC3 0x80 English 216091 frames, framesize 1792, duration -1:96:32:69021, bitrate 448000, freq 48000, 3 : 2 + LFE
20:23:47 AC3 0x81 English 216091 frames, framesize 768, duration -1:96:32:69021, bitrate 192000, freq 48000, 2 : 0
20:23:47 DTS 0x8A English 648275 frames, framesize 1006, duration -1:96:32:88421, bitrate 754500, freq 48000, C + L + R + SL + SR + LFE

Looks like it's detecting a strange bitrate/framerate. I looked through the IFO for both movies I tried, and both have a 1 second blank VOB ID segment at the end of the main movie PGC. I know RA can't do stills, but PGC 1 in VTS 02 of the same disc has the same 1 sec. clip, and RA detects it (length) just fine. How can I tell if they're stills ? (Won't play in Vobrator). Sorry for the long message. I'm a bit new at this, but I've done alot of homework. Sorry if I've used some of the wrong terminology. Anybody have any ideas????

I used the big three to author the Minority Report not long ago and have faint memories of this problem. I'll have a think and see if I can remember what I did. What did you set the minimum demux size to?

DIF4U min demux was set to 200 MB.

Drawing a blank atm, damn I wish I had documented what I did  .

Thanks for trying, brashquido!

Anyone else ever had this happen?

Whoa! That's totally fudged up there kuestess! I haven't the foggiest what it could be. Things it would be useful to know:
[list=1]
What OS are you using and what filesystem?
Are your m2vs demuxed to more than one file for the VTS/PGC?
How long is this m2v actually when played back in WMP?
How long is this PGC supposed to be according to the IFO?

1. Using WinXP Pro, FAT32
2. PGC1 (from VTS01) gets demuxed into two files
3. Can't get the M2v files to play properly in WMP (codec issue?), just shows a blank screen. Properties for the first file (in WMP) show 49:42:36, but the second one causes WMP to crash. Both files play fine in Power DVD. Looks like the whole movie's there.
4. Movie's supposed to be 1:55:09 according to the IFO.

I deleted all the original files from the first time I did it, but I ripped it again using DIF4U, with the same results. Came up with a different framerate and original bitrate this time too.

Coincidentally, both of the movies I'm having trouble with are from the same studio (Dreamworks) and have the same structure for the main movie PGC. The entire movie uses VOB ID 1, followed by a 1 second clip that is VOB ID 2 Cell 1. Maybe that's the problem - does RA have problems with that last part of the PGC?

Ahhh... well that would be causing some problems. Unfortunately RA doesn't support splitting of demuxed m2vs from the same PGC. This is a FAT32 issue. If you're using WinXP Pro, could I ask why you're not using NTFS?

Thank you! It was killing me not being able to figure out what was wrong. I've been intending to convert to NTFS, just haven't gotten around to it. Thanks again!
