So far any methods of transcoding is done via directshow, which limits to no faster than real time. Are there plans for faster transcoding, such as the speed of decoding AC3 to PCM wav via DVD2AVI, which takes about 15~20 minutes on a 2HR DVD? Feels bad having directshow be the limiter to transcode on a 2.4 P4 ...

2 hours to transcode 2 hours of audio feels ridiculous since it takes less time to transcode a 2 hour Huffy avi.

I do not believe DirectShow is the limitation here. For example, OGM and Matroska muxing can be done in DirectShow, and it definately muxes faster than "real time." In fact Koepi's OGM Muxer is built on DirectShow AFAIK.
