Hey,

I've been scouring the guides all over, and I'm looking to see if anyone has input on this.

I have a bunch of MPGs that have been sitting on my HD for a while now - most of them are downloaded tv episodes. I want to encode them over to divx simply for storage purposes - I can't afford to make 1 VCD per episode, I want to try to get 3 episodes on DIVX per cd.

I use to do a lot of encoding (about a year ago, maybe more) and I would always Nandub everything. (So I would load the MPGs into Nandub and 2 pass it away...)

But it's been a long time, I no longer am as 'fluent' as I use to be w/ Nandub, and I've noticed a lot of new software, or updated software, out.

The guide I found (VCD --> DIVX) uses VirtualDub, and I'm looking to get 2 pass divx3 if at all possible, which VD doesn't support (unless they changed that too..)

So I was just wondering what suggestions might be out there.. any specific software? Method? Steps?

Thanks.

what your asking is for avi encoding, not mpeg encoding (this forum is mpeg encoding).

You can maybe used the MPEG Mediator (Special Edition) fpr our proposal ! :Dī

Or take a look at the "Encoder comparison" at the side ! :)

@enthrop--

Have a look at the SVCD-to-DIVX guide here (http://www.doom9.org/svcd2divx.htm).

I am not 100% sure the technique applies to both VCD and SVCD, but it's worth a try. After you create a .d2v file with DVD2AVI, you are set to go, the procedure is identical to a dvd-rip. Do the audio in BeSweet (DVD2AVI demuxes it for you), saving to mp3/ogg. Just make sure you crop using Gordian Knot to get the correct crop values.
