Hi,

I don't know whether my friends' DVD player can play SVCD's or not, so I burned a small SVCD.

It played, but the playback (both sound and audio) was jerky.

Does this mean that it supports SVCD and that I just burned the file wrong? I used Nero, NTSC was selected by default, might this be the problem?

Would it help if I changed the compatability settings in Nero? Which ones?

Or does the fact that playback is jerky mean that the DVD player doesn't support SVCD at all?

Thanks for your help.

if it played the file, then it probably supports SVCD.

can you please define jerky? does it play smoothly, and 'hangs' for a split second, or does it play like "forward, backward, forward, backward, etc"? if it's the 2nd, then you should swap the fields order, if it's the 1st, then either u used a non-standard (high) bitrate, which the player can't follow, or for some reason, the burn process wasn't good enough (try burning at lower speed) or that specific dvd player doesn't play well CD-RW (this can happen).

supplying more details about the exact configuration of the SVCD, the burn process and the DVD-player model might help you get better answers.
