You might find everything you need if you've got some THX DVD's.

There are some great 'white noise' audio test files just waiting for extraction. Including 'in phase' and 'out of phase' samples!

The site looks great , but every time i try and download a vob , it says "Forbidden You don't have permission to access " do i have to log in / create a login? will these vobs play test sounds via each speaker? i just brought surround sound , it sounds great! now i want to test / push it to the limits :D

It took a minute, but I found the one I use/used.

The first one in the list will say the name of the channel out of only that channel. Perfect for seeing if your system works. :)

Enjoy

I think the site has download quota, try again later or try without using a download manager.

@wiflye81
hello , yes the site is still telling my i am forbidden to access, i guess it might be the quota. will try AGAIN later :D
@TelemachusMH thanks for the link although it keeps saying that i am a leach , i could understand if i was using a download manager etc but i am not :confused: i have opened a new browser to digital-digest and clicked until i found the page above , but it still is saying i am a leech? :confused:. Will this let me author and play on dvd player? i have a "test" button on my a/v receiver , but it just plays static to show you it is working , i would like a "action" file designed for testing , e.g like a helicopter flying around you showing the effect DD5.1/DTS can give.

Well, I am not sure why you can't download it. I just downloaded it from the first two linked sites (and the third doesn't seem to exist anymore). You might try downloading it with a different browser (I'm using mozilla)

Also, I didn't realize that you were planning on testing a stand only player. I have no idea if it is ready to be used like that, or if you'll have to convert it. I can't help you there though, I don't have a dvd burner so I've never tried making dvds.

I'll also tell you what this file is like. The preview that you can see on the site is the only picture (it doesn't change), but there is a man's voice that says "Right Surround ..... Left Surround .... Left Front ... Center ... Right Front .... LFE". His voice is only played through the channel that he is saying at the time. All the others have nothing. It also repeats itself three times before finishing.

PS If your dvd player plays cds maybe you want to give this (http://www.sonicengineering.com/diy_5_1.html) a try.
