How to do more than 2 passes

Okay, I give up. How the heck do I actually accomplish a 3rd or 4th pass in Tmpeg? That is what the new 2 pass encoder is for, correct?
I have searched every help file I can find and I have yet to find anything but the barest minimum of information.
Let's say(for the sake of argument) I have the full version which I downloaded. The documentation sucks.
I'm not expecting something to figuratively hold my hand while I set the parameters but I at LEAST expect a CLUE!

I haven't got a problem with searching some more if someone would just point me in a fruitful direction. Thanks for any help or finger pointing in a particular direction that may come my way.

I understand that more than 2 passes in TMPGEnc is not supported. The options is available in DVD2SVCD, but some guides say it won't work. I tried it also with no results.

Maybe on a later version...

IMHO, however, the TMPGEnc documentation does not suck (at least on this). It clearly states the available possibilities:


Max Pass
Selects which algorithm to use in the analysis pass for motion. Depending whether you are using the evaluation version or "plus" version of TMPGEnc, the available options can differ. The "2 pass (old type)" is available for all version and is a lower quality than the other algorithms.

maybe my bad. I have always been under the impression that more than 2 passes where available using the tmp file it makes. Very possible I have been under the wrong impression since the new 2 pass algo came out w/2.5
It would explain alot. I suppose the very idea that it will save an encoding file suggests to me a true multipass(more than 2)encode.
If this is not the case I will lower my head and slink away in embarrassment, apologize to my family and friends & move to Nebraska.
Is there anyone else that thinks (or thought) Tmpeg was capable of more than 2 passes using the new (well...NOT so new anymore) multi-pass encode?

It is not possible to encode with more than 2-passes!

IMHO you won't get a much better quality, if using multi-pass ... at CCE, maybe ... but not at TMPGEnc.

If I get 130 min of video on 1 CDR in a really great quality, then I don't think that the quality/compression can be better as this! (when using multi-pass)
