DVD Shrink - 'File doesn't exist'

Hi all,

I'm having a DVD Shrink related problem, and searching the forum has come up with nothing. If anyone could explain this, I'd be grateful.

When I load any files in DVD Shrink 2 (and the same error occured in the earlier versions too), I get the following error message as the 'Analysing DVD' window opens:

DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue this operation.
File doesn't exist.
The reason is: The system cannot find the file specified.

The problem is, I don't know which file is missing. It won't allow me to re-encode anything, presumably because of this mysterious missing file. Any ideas?

It's probably something simple, but it's got me stumped.

Thanks, but I'm still not entirely sure what the problem is that's being discussed there - Is it down to DVD Decrypter? I'm using 3.1.6.0.

I've been having the same problem, and just installing 3.1.4 didn't work either... Someone please look into this

i had the same problem. i then decrypted the whole DVD (instead of just the VTS set for the movie) and it worked fine.

Indeed, it works once you have all the files in ... but does this qualify as a bug? Suppose you only want movie only, you'd still have to rip the vts titles you won't be using...

No, it is not a bug. The program is designed to work with a legitimate DVD, and can remove parts itself. DVDShrink 2.0 can also decrypt for you. If you must remove things beforehand (why, I don't know, disks are so cheap these days) do it properly with IfoEdit.

Still, I resent the implication that everyone can afford big hard drives - I certainly can't.

I don't want this to blow up, so I'll apologize to anyone who lives in an area where disk drives are difficult to come by reasonably priced. Where I am it is approximately $1 per GB for drives over 40GB. The last sale over at CompUSA had a massive 200GB Caviar for $120. And it's sort of expected when working with DVDs that you have room for at least 2 full DVDs. But here's an idea for those who don't have that much free space, but have drives large enough if only they were less cluttered. Use an RW to archive some files.

Once again, if drives are an economic problem, I truly feel for you.

I have over 350 gigs of hard drive, and they just happen to be full. But I was just saying that version 1.03 worked if you only ripped the title sets you wanted plus the video_ts.ifo ....... and I'm aware of the fact that dvdshrink is able to decrypt it as well, but as many other people here, I'd rather have dvddecrypter do it for me. Thanks for replying... and snooty, doesn't it kill you that it's always the little things that gets us mad?
