Has anyone successfully backed up Die Another Day? If I try to split the full movie with ifoedit, it will have the directors video in video commentaries in the movie. If I split the movie with ifoedit and strip out angle 2, the video playback is choppy and pixelized during the parts where the angle 2 was.

The only problem with ripping this one is that it is 91Meg too big for a singel disc without any re-encoding.

Yeah, I'm splitting it to 2 discs. I can't seem to get it to work with the menu and extras, but if you rip the whole movie to the hd, then strip out the movie removing the vobids for the angles the movie appears to play fine. I'm going to see if I can find a way to re-insert that back in with the menu, but if not just split the movie.

I've got it!! I'm so happy! Ok, here's how to do it. You rip the full dvd to the hard drive. Stip out movie only, unchecking the boxes with the vobids that contain angle angle 2. This will fix the pip with the director commentary. Then, rename your newly created vobs from 01 to 05s. Copy over the rest of the files over from the original folder. Also be sure to copy over 05.0.vob, when you strip out the movie this gets left out, and this has the menu in it. Copy over all files, even the newly created ifo file for the movie. Copy over everything except for the new vob files you made. Copying over all the other files will also make the subs appear correctly through the movie too. Enjoy!

Actually, the chapters work better if you split the movie only that you stripped out of the full movie with angle 2 removed. Then rename and add the rest of the files. And, cell 36 is a best split point.

Though everything is working, there are some pauses in the movie I'm now noticing, like when the reporters are asking Gustav questions after he parachutes. This also happened in Jurassic Park 2. I wish I knew what was causing these dumb pauses. I'm going to try checking the remove llvu/angle point box when splitting the stripped out movie and see if that doesn't fix it. Does anybody know what causes those pauses?

Nope, still has some pauses in the movie. Other than a few pauses it's perfect. I'm going to try splitting the movie as you would normally with ifoedit, and copying over the original movie ifo files and see if that might fix the pip problem and looping when you don't remove angle 2. Perhaps the original ifos have the correct navigational info in them that the new ones don't that cause the problems. There's got to be a way to do it leaving the movie perfect. I'll let you know if it works.

Well, splitting the movie as you would normally, leaving angles in the movie, and then copying over all the other origianl files, and the original vts_05.ifo, bup, and bup fixed the pip problems and looping problems I believe. I'll have to burn it and try it on the standalone and see if it fixed the pauses too.

Nope, didn't work. Seems like you either get it perfect with pauses in the movie, or looping, or pip. I think the only way to back up this movie is to split the stripped out movie with angle 2 removed, not having any extras or menus unfortunately.

I bet dvdxcopy can burn Die Another Day. I know it can back up The Matrix with no problems, and that movie is tough like this one.

Yep, movie turned out flawless. Way to go dvdxcopy.

I find that if I strip this movie (PAL) down to movie only, no menue, no titles and no credits and also remove the angles then it plays fine but is 91Meg too big for one disc.

I have problems with CCE getting a perfect audio resync and TMPGEnc aint quite good enough quality for me... any suggestions.

Yeah, I was trying to split it. I tried every possible way I could think of, and burned several coasters. dvdxcopy was the only way that worked (if you don't mind it being on 2 discs.

Sorted it now... got it to fit on one DVD-R without re-encoding the video.

Stripped to movie with IfoEdit, Demuxed the audio with VOBEdit, re-encoded the audio @ 244bps with BeeSweet and AC3Machine, recombined with IfoEdit and burnt the disc.

Result 1 x DVD-R no skips perfect picture 100% happy kids.

I did exactly what you did, but, I can not figure out how to recombine the VOB's with the AC3 file in ifoedit, I am trying to do the same with this movie. thanks..

Open IfoEdit and select the 5th option on the top menu bar "DVD Author"

Then select "Author New DVD" from the drop down menu.

On the pop up window select your MP2 and AC3 file and if you extracted one the chapter file.

Click on "OK" and sit back for 4 or 5 minutes while IfoEdit puts it all back together.

Easy... well it is now due to the help from the Forum.
