i`m trying to compress a 200mb vcd mpeg file into a 50mb avi file. I'm using virtual dub to extract the wav file from the original file( on full processing mode). However the file length of the wav keeps coming out as 4 secs longer than the original mpeg file. If anyone can help i`d really appreciate it

what is the problem (with the wav file)
did you mux is into avi already?
does it get out of synch?
with all my files durations do not exactly match.
take it easy with the angry face,

sorry, i didnt mean anything by the angry face, should have been more of a frustrated face. I`ve actually managed to solve the problem by using tmpgenc to extract the audio. However i`m still perplexed as to why there was a problem in the first place.
I loaded the vcd mpeg file into vdub, set audio to full processing mode and saved the wav file (like i`ve done loads of times). When i compared the extracted wav length to the mpeg length there was a 2 second discrepancy which meant when i reattached the wav to the bare mpeg, the file was out of sync. The original vcd meg was perfectly in sync so i assume vdub must have caused the problem ( especially as i had no such problem using tmpgenc to extract the audio)
Obviously i`m not as bothered about an explanation now but if anyone has any ideas what caused this it`d be nice to know
