Hi all,

Right I have a large video stream that was encoded with xvid at a stupid screen res (640x272) at 23.976fps and the audio is Mp3 48khz stereo, it plays fine in media player but when I try to reencode I lose the audio sync.

I have searched and followed so many guides its untrue, my last attempt was to decode the first half with no compression on audio and video and it seemed to work and then reencode with tmpgenc. However the second part (using virtual dub and changing start frames) once again becomes out of sync when decoding to the same, but plays fine in VD.

Help, Im pulling my hair out, I have followed the Doom9 guides and VCDhelp guide for NTSC > PAL but I keep getting audio out of sync.

Further information, when I encode directly from original into to seperate streams the audio is about 7 seconds longer than video and is about 5 seconds out of sync to early.

I want to back it up to DVD, come on guys, any and all advice would be hamdy, I have even blown one cpu in my dual XP2200 system, ahhh, dobt think its my day.

before bothering even longer I would check if your standalone DVD player accepts NTSC. I assume your player is PAL, but most of the newer players will accept NTSC anyway. So befor you tear out any more hear, you might try this :)

if that doesn't work, please tell us what kind of source you are using exactly, like how many parts (2?) etc and give us generally more details. you seem to have put quite an amount of time into this, so please share your success or failures with us so we don't propose things you've already tried!

Ok, standalone player will play ntsc but tv wont.

The movie is 2hours 50mins long and is in one file.

I have tried a direct convert to pal in Tmpgenc, I have frameserved it with Vdub and converted with Tmpegenc, I have decoded it down to its basic form, huge file, I have tried ripping video and audio seperate as wav and mp2 and converted it with ac3machine correcting for fps. still out of sync.

I have done a couple more things from the ntsc-pal conversion guide and divx avi to dvd guide.

Help.

Btw, I have 2 dvd players one is multiregion the other is not, but I dont think the tv can handle a ntsc signal unless im mistaken and if the dvd player accepts it does this mean it will send it to the tv as a pal signal.

are you sure that your TV won't play a NTSC signal, because most TVs nowadays do. i have an almost 10 year old TV at home and it plays NTSC SVCD like a charm. so if your dvd player supports cd rw i would just burn a little ntsc svcd sample and check it out.

Look in your player setup if you can change the NTSC-output to PAL60...
This is supported by most TVs...

well my dvd player that is not multiregion is an accoustic solution 321 from richersounds and cant be made multiregion (cheapy for bedroom) and the tv is a goodmans 21" and I dont think it plays NTSC (another tescos cheap buy), but I will try.

The problem i have encoding as NTSC is it crashes my system so I just want to write a PAL DVD, so any other help please.

Where does this "stupid avi" come from ???

Please remember that we are talking about backups of legally owned DVDs here.

Such NTSC -> PAL discussions are often very close to Rule 6:

6) No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained movies! Links to content of a questionable nature, asking or offering in any way or form is not tolerated.

the stupid avi is a home movie from my relatives in the usa and sent over the net, yes i know i can ask them to resend it but it took forever to get. I understand the rules about copyrighted material.
