View Full Version : Video Stutter During Fast Motion Scenes

Using the Big 3 (DF4U 1.11, DoC4U 1.014, Reauthorist) and when I authored the DVD using Scenarist and viewed it on my TV, the video is smooth until it gets to fast motion scenes where it stutters momentarily until the motion is smooth again. I was wondering what could be causing this?

I'm using CCE 2.5 with EclCCE 1.4b. I'm wondering if using CCE 2.66/2.67 and EclCCE 1.5b would help. Is it possible to adjust any of the options in CCE so that the video runs smoother?

Thanks for the help.

Stutters how??? If you mean it gets pixilated that could be a sign of the bitrate used... high motion usually requires a higher bit rate in sections..

I believe it also could be the Qfactor you use (someone correct me on this as I might be wrong)

Its almost like the frame rate slows down suddenly then gets back to
the normal smooth NTSC frame rate (29.97). This was a long DVD movie that I just did (175 minutes) so that could be the reason but
according to ReAuthoring, the main movie bitrate should be about
3000 kb/sec so I thought that was enough bitrate for the main movie

Does certain versions of CCE encode better than other versions?
2.5 vs 2.66 vs 2.67?

I've only noticed it on one movie.

interlaced? or progressive? if interlaced you may have to switch fields.

It's progressive

The stuttering problem is similar to the one mentioned in this thread

Figured it out. I switched to CCE 2.66.01.07 and re-encoded
again using DIF4U, DCF4, ReAuthorist, and Scenarist and this time
the video was smooth, no stuttering seen like I saw when I used CCE
2.5

Just curious as to whether other people have seen this when using
CCE 2.5
