here's my little story: I'm not using DVD2SVCD too often, because I usually encode to avi, but lately I've been doing a few SVCDs so my sibblings do not have to watch the movies on my computer and do not get the original DVD into their hands either :-P
anyway, yesterday I've made a stupid mistake. somehow I've selected the right directory to rip the vob files to, but the wrong directory to store the resulting files. unfortunately, but somehow logically, DVD2SVCD still had it's root directory set there. So it turned out that DVD2SVCD was saving all the encoded files, muxed files, etc to my C: hard drive, where of course windows is also installed. do you know how nice it is if you return to your computer in the morning and your computer has exactly 10 kb of storage left on the system drive? WEll it took me around 45 minutes to delete the first file and therefore put windows out of its misery (:
after i took a closer look at the log file, something surprised me. DVD2SVCD had already successfully muxed the audio tracks and was just muxing the subtitles into the file, when it had used up all the space.
Of course it had done the usual HD check, telling me that i had still 99MB left on my drive and then it started muxing.
Now my idea, and I'm really surprised nobody seems to have suggested that already, is, to help such stupid people like me, that can't even properly select the hard drive (I actually wanted to put it to my new, almost empty 120 gig hd) and build a little switch that halts DVD2SVCD and tells the user 'hey you stupid, why didn't you select a hd with enough space?" and then let's you select another drive or at least delete a few interim files until it can continue.
This would be of great convenience as people like me then wouldn't have to do the sub muxing and cd image building by hand. (:
