I am using mainconcept mpeg encoder to encode a widescreen divx file. After encoding, I am using ifoedit to author the dvd. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get mainconcept to recognize that the original file is widescreen. My final dvd is always fullscreen (with the image stretched vertically to fill the screen.)

BTW, I know it is not my dvd player set incorrectly.

Ok, I have figured out how to do it using avisynth and vfapi, however this process slows down the encoding substantially. Speed is one of the main reasons I like mainconcept mpeg encoder. Is there any other way?

is the stream flagged for 16:9 or 4:3?
By the sounds of your problem the video is fine, you just need to use ReStream to set the 16:9 flag.

I will have to try that, but now I am having another problem. After encoding with mainconcept, the new .mpv file stops suddenly at 1:04:31. This has happened with 2 different source files, both longer than 1.5 hours.

is the 1:04 mark in the file coincide with the 1GB or 2GB point?

No, it is approximately 3.3GB. I have noticed that it also does this when encoding without using the avisynth method, just encoding the avi file straight with mainconcept. Other encoders (tmpgenc and cce don't have this problem).
