Xvid to SVCD Problem

I converted an Xvid file to SVCD. Everything went fine, it played fine in WMP and everything. When i burned it to CD-R, when I fast forwarded it will get all weird and digitized. It's hard to explain. I used AVI2SVCD with CCE.

Sorry im not posting to help you but to present my own little problem.

I used the method explained here - http://www.dvdrhelp.com/tmpgencsvcd.htm - to convert from XVID to SVCD.

The XVID movie was only one file and i converted it to 2 mpeg files (for best quality when i later burned to SVCD).

Problem is, i opened the files on Windows Media Player and image quality is very good BUT there is no sound, in none of the mpegs.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Why even bother converting to SVCD? Xvid quality is much better and has better compression

Btw, i have since solved my problem. I always extract audio to a separate wav file now. Works well, no sync problems.

Playing XviD files in a standalone DVD player is a bit harder than playing SVCDs. Although there are players capable of playing XviD clips, the codec is not yet even at v1.0, which is generally a mark of stability. If your XviD file is even slightly off the specs, it may not play at all whereas most SVCD capable players don't mind if an SVCD is not exactly within the specs.

I think AVI2SVCD makes a BIN and a CUE so it can be burned almost with any burning software, for example with burnatonce (http://www.burnatonce.com/).

Did you use 16:9 encoding mode in CCE? Some players are not capable to play SVCDs which are encoded to 16:9. And are you sure you didn't exceed the maximum bitrate of your player?

Did you use 16:9 encoding mode in CCE? Some players are not capable to play SVCDs which are encoded to 16:9. And are you sure you didn't exceed the maximum bitrate of your player? I asked which program he used because (i think) i read somewhere that on some old versions of Nero the user should manually put a file called SCANDATA.DAT on the directory EXT of the SVCD to prevent such "rewind/forward" problems.
