PowerDVD crashing

I installed PowerDVD EX that came with my Hercules Fortissimo III sound card, but it always crash when I try to play anything or even after a few seconds after I opened the configuration menu. I have a Radeon 9000 Pro if it matters. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Did you try to download a patch?

I did. It didn't help though :(.

Maybe try lowering the colour depth to 24bit ... in the configuration dialog, can you disable hardware acceleration or does it crash before you can do anything?

I tried disabling hardware accel. and lowering color depth to 16-bit (I don't have the option of 24 for some reason) but same thing happens as soon as I try to play something, it crashes with that window that ask you to send error report to Microsoft. I also tried to reinstall it and it didn't help.
