Has anyone figured out how to get the English subtitles to work when they are speaking Korean using DVDShrink?

I Keep only English DTS & DD soundtracks, but all the subtitle tracks.

there ya go...that's why I always recommend keeping all sub titles since they're usually only 2-3MB per subtitle track.

You misunderstood. I DID keep all the subtitles - they work fine when I specifically switch them on, but the occasional English subtitle that is supposed to come up when the actors are speaking Korean DOES NOT come up unless English ST are turned on. (Those sST are supposed to be "always on".

I DVD2Oned this movie as I couldn't be jacked to re-author the damn thing - multi-angle you see. The subs you mention are forced subs and DVD2One has no problems with these.

idbirch2, when you ripped it, did you rip angle 1 or 2? I ripped angle 1 with DVDDecrypter and kept the English subtitles. I then DVD2Oned it, keeping both English subtitle tracks. I have the same problem as the original poster. I can get the subtitles that translate the Korean dialog, but then I also get normal subtitles too, when they speak English. Or I can get no subtitles at all. But I can't get just the forced subtitles for the Korean translation.

Well I did a full backup using ISO mode in Decrypter and a full disk copy in DVD2One. The multi-angle stuff still works and I only get subs when they're talking Korean

When I said I could either get all subtitles or no subtitles, that was playing the movie in PowerDVD. Since then I tried burning it to DVD-R to see what happens and my standalone players show the subtitles only when Korean is spoken. Problem solved. I am concerned though that I only ripped angle 1 in DVDDecrpyter. What do the angles do? And if I have only angle 1, will that mess up the movie. (I haven't watched the movie yet other than to check the subtitles.) Thanks.

The movie will not be messed up - angle 2 is the "MI6 Data Stream" in special features - when the big action scenes are running you can watch from different angles and get exrta info on how the scene/stunt was done. It shouldn't affect the normal watching of the movie. I would get MenuEdit though and remove the button for this feature.

Thanks for the good explation of what angle 2 does. That eliminates my concern. I plan to watch it this week-end.

Yes, I just got the same problem. If you choose subtitle 5 while the movie is playing it will play correctly. I don't know how to make it automatically play subtitle 5 in the movie with ifoedit, but if you select it during the movie it will play correctly.
