How to find out on a re-encoded video stream if upper field was correct or not ?

I have many re-encoded movies where I suspect that the "upper field first" was not set correctly in CCE (set to ON for progressive videos).

Is there a way/tool to find out, besides that the image should slutter a bit ? Can you really tell on a regular 32 inch TV ?

UFF has no real affect on progressive video. In fact the only thing it does is shift the video by one line. You wouldn't be able to see it on your TV because of the overscan.

If you had interlaced material with the incorrect field order you would notice on any tv set.

Why do you think it's an UFF problem?

Well I can not really tell to be honest :) I just know for sure that I set it wrong on my last movie, but everything looks fine on my TV.

I was just curious because in another thread I read that if you set the uff wrong in CCE, the image would slutter (that was probably for interlaced only material as you suggested)

wmansir is right, it really only matters for interlaced video. If your re-encoded video plays and looks fine, there is no need to correct anything.
