Prefer UDF only, more compatible.
Use ImgTool from Coujo, unselect iSO9660 in optiosn and go on with a sure set of VTS files (Ie do not forget to correct VTS sectors with Ifoedit, or prefer to try with a ripped DVD5 to avoir authoring error)

Does your disks play in one other standalone Player ?

Just to check if your burned dvd-r are well authored and really DVD compatible.

OK. Just to be sure.
Did you try to change the first jump command ?
Try with a simple command : "Jump to Title XX".
It solve sometimes compatibility problem with some player.
I guess that complex command involves lots of seeking which is OK on DVD-9, but can hang in some SA player with DVD-R.
Except that, the media is important. Try with a Pioneer DVD-R or a Ritek G04 and burn it @X1.

IfoEdit, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VGM_MAT, FIrst Play PGC, at the end of the page, there is the First Jump command. Right click and edit.
