For some reason, when I create an OGM file in VdubMod from an OGG and an Xvid video stream, it won't open in Bsplayer - gives error message "Unknown video type ()".

This is somewhat like the error message it was giving me with a couple of my Divx3 files: "Unknown video type (DIV3)" even though the FOURCC is "div3" same as other files that it plays perfectly.

Is this a DS problem? Do I need a set of filters, or something? I don't see anyone else having problems with OGM or MKV...

Even if you have VdubMod and you mux properly the video and the audio into an ogm, you need a directshow filter to playback the ogm. You'll find the filter on doom9's download page ( ogg vorbis direct show filter implementation ).

This is not like the other error you mentionned. When BSplayer says "Unknown video type (DIV3)" , it means most of the time that the file is not valid ( without end, or corrupted ).
