View Full Version : DVD Authoring SDK?

To start with, I have to create a plan and estimate project costs of development a simple DVD authoring tool. I believe that project costs and time to market would significantly decrease if not writing things from scratch but to buy a third party SDK for DVD authoring, i.e. not reinvent the wheel.

What I need from SDK is:
- functions to put some video and audio data in the right place of DVD structure
- custom menu creation functions
- finally, burn the DVD

I have already found several tools (e.g. GEAR Toolkit), most of them are pretty expensive. Can anybody give me a hint where to search? Had anyone ever used something like that?

Never used it but i did stumble accross this in my own quest:

http://www.authoringware.com/dll.htm

When i probed the author for pricing he came back with:

Developer has to pay one time developer's license fee of $900USD. There will be bundling royalty fee for the components. The royalty fee could be as low as $5.00USD if the volume can reach 5,000 annually. We want to hear from you about estimated bundling volume. Other royalty agreement, such as one time unlimited license for object codes or source codes license, is also negotiable.

Far too much for me!!

Thanks for reply, ChrissyBoy.

I have just talked to them too and their answer was similar, but the developers license is already $1.500...

Inflation? :D
