Hi,
I updated my Samsung SN308B to U007 (RPC-2, DELL OEM) yesterday. Before it was U002 and was reading in PIO mode only. With the help of the firmware board I upgraded first to U021 which connected the drive to the Second IDE as Slave. So I read on and flashed E007 (patched DELL OEM) which fixes the Slave back to Master and enabled Multiword DMA Mode. From now on the drive does not read CSS encrypted (pressed original) DVD's anymore (in player mode, DVDDecrypter has no problem to rip the content to harddisk).
I decided to try the un-patched version U007 which switched back to '4-Region-Changes-Left' setting and put the drive to Region 2 (as it was before with the U002), well still not reading original DVD's. I had quiet some trouble with the 'New-Hardware-Found-Dialog'. It droves my creazy but finally I managed to got it recognised as CD/DVD-ROM again. Nero is recognising the burner in it.
Now It is reading my copied DVD-R/RW's, burning etc. all ok. PowerDVD reports a dirty DVD and Zoomplayer problems while authenticating and on key exchange. How can I fix this issue?
Hardware is a Targa 1600, Software WinXP Home, as flasher I used sfdnwin.exe, well I was lucky it worked like a charm...
