Hallo everyone, i am compiling a dvd via dvdlab and am having trouble with the audio. I have already compiled one already sucessfully, but after 4 goes at it, im stuck. I use TMPG to convert the avi. -> mpeg2, then import the .m2v file into dvdlab. i extract the sound from the .avi (which is already ac3) and then beslice it back from .wav -> .ac3, then import that to dvdlab. I let it rip,BUT then the audio is out of sync and gets worse the further on the movie goes. What am i doin wrong??? i cant figure it out :(

hi and welcome to the forum,
this sounds to me a bit like a framerate problem. perhaps you have somehow converted an NTSC avi to a PAL mpeg2 or viceversa. if so the audio 'framerate' will still be wrong. so check what framerate your audio and video have and if they differ, convert one of them to the other framerate so they match. i'd go for the audio, but i guess this depending on what standalone region you've got. so if you live in region1 i'd go for NTSC , region 2 PAL and so on ...

hope this helps

The conversion from ac3 to wav to ac3 is absolutely unnecessary and probably only harms the quality...
I don't know dvdlab, but which process do you use to create an avi from the dvd?
Anyway, you can extract the ac3 from the avi with nandub or virtualdubmod...
IIRC, you have to set audio to direct stream copy in nandub, then save wav, and then rename this to ac3 (because it is ac3, just with an avi-extension)...
I don't know the process with virtualdubmod from heart, but it is fairly easy and you will sure be able to figure it out...
I'm quite sure that the sync-issues originate from that unnecessary conversion...
I don't think that you accidentially do a (partly) standard-conversion, because your authoring-proggie would sure complain if you would feet it a footage with NTSC fps and PAL-resolution or vice versa...
But anyway, you should post your dvd2avi-process, so we can check if this could be the source of your problems...

Thank you both for your comments, but i think because of lack of me giving information has muddled it abit.
I start from beginning to give better idea :D
I downloaded lotr2.avi from iMesh of course it was in 3 pieces, so i joined them using nandub, then spilt them into 2 equal halves usin virtudub. Format is div3, audio is ac3(dolby).Extract audio from .avi then use bslice to get it back to ac3. Using TMPG to convert div3 to mpeg2 creating .m2v. Then open dvdlab import .m2v and .ac3 in then merge and burn. I have sucessfully do 1 of the 2 disc's fine, but it's the other disc now that is the problem. I have made sure that i have bsliced the correct .wav file, and made sure that i have extracted the audio from the correct .avi.
Whilst TMPG creates a .m2v file for me, it also creates a .wav file that possibly i can use, but its only 16bit and why settle for crap if i can get honey :P also i dont want to use it because besliced cant seem to ac3 it for me...
Sorry mod's if there is a limit to posts, but i had to give complete idea here...
Thanx forward... :scared:

It sounds like you are extracting a wav. Use VDubMod and under audio select mux. This will give you a ac3 audio. I do this all the time. Most of the time BeSlice doesn't do anything to the file because it is already correct. Another problem I have run into with audio sync is joining 2 or more avi files. Before you split the joined file in half, ensure audio is in sync.
