I encode for my PPC or Laptop wichever I have with me, I like to use the new version of Xvid on my laptop but if I encode a video for my PPC with it I get a green screen or it just blows up in PocketMVP but the stable version works great on the PPC, & since the stable & the new version are the same program I can't have them both installed at the same time on the machine I use to encode the video so my question is can the new version be set up so the files come out like the stable, or a PPC button (Profile) be added to the codec that would basically set the new version to act like the stable version so we can encode either way?
Then one encoder can rule them all.
plz help.

Try disabling QPel and GMC on your encodes, possibly also VHQ. My guess is the decoder on your PPC doesn't support these.

VHQ doesn't use any additional features - it just optimizes the usage of motion vectors AFAIK.
@Thump2010: Try using a more precise title the next time - like me, they most likely just browsed by, not knowing it was about making video work on PPC and your laptop. ;)
Btw, the topic made me think of a instruction I missed in C++
do as if {
}
(Probably just me who think that's funny :rolleyes: )

Ok the settings I've used to try to turn everything off to make it work & still a no go it just shows green first screen & multi color garbage after that.

now the options that are there for the stable version I set the same quant, bitrate etc. but I can't get the new version to play nice.

you know, I've hit same problem and able to resolve it switching to Betaplayer (http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/) :)
