View Full Version : What do you think is a resonable price for a one step backup program?

There's a lot of programs floating around that help you backup your dvds. The popular ones include dvdxcopy, dvd2one, Pinnacle's Instant dvd, & dvdshrink). I've tried dvdxcopy when it first came out, but I'm not willing to spend $100.

-dvdxcopy $80
-dvd2one $40 UK pounds,so I'm guessing that's around $60.
-Instant copy $17 after rebates
-Dvdshrink FREE!

I've tried most of the programs listed above and must say that I am impressed. I love dvdshrink because it's free and offers the same, in my opinion as dvd2one. But why are they so expensive?

I know some people can obtain these progams from the file sharing places (which is unethical of course). I figured if they brought down the price, more people would buy the product and there would be less stealing. I would be willing to pay $19.99 for any of the programs mentioned above. There's a lot of competition out there. By providing a product that works and is reasonably priced, everyone would be happy. Let's face it, we don't need to buy retail packages, we can just download from the manufacturers website.

I still don't understand why they just don't lower the price. It's like pay per view events. Who wants to pay $29.99 or $39.99 to watch wrestling or boxing? I would for $9.99 and am sure many others would as well. I guess if there's a demand for it, people are willing to pay anything but not me ;)

You left out one, DVD95Copy
Dvd95Copy has IMO, better video quality and has better reliability when doing whole disks than Dvd2one. Both are around the same price.

As far as DvdXCopy goes, wish I had my $100 back, has the lowest reliability of them all, maybe worth $25...........Maybe, if at all worth owning.
Their newest program Xpress is a joke...IMO.

I don't own instantcopy, so can't comment.

I get 321Studios products for free (no, not warez) and I still don't use them.

It's no wonder makers of products like DVDSqueeze are popping out everywhere on the internet.

Incidentally, is there a general term for products like DVDSqueeze? Ripoff software = ripware maybe?
