Trying to back up a Band of Brothers DVD. It seems I re-encoded my files a little to big to fit on a DVD-R (4.9GB). I see now after doing a little reading that you have to add the audio size and the menu size to the video size to get the overall size. Anyway, my question is do I have to re-rip the DVD or can I reduce the size the the already transcoded .pdi files? If so how?

No, you don't have to re-rip but you must re-transconding after deleting the data files in your "discdata" folder. Reduce the target size and start again.
