Hi,
I am the lucky owner of a KiSS DP-500 player :) - but at I assume all know, it doesn't play .avi's encoded with QPEL (it does now play .avi's with GMC as well as DivX 3.11).
It would be nice if it was possible to see whether QPEL was used or not on the PC - is there a way/program that does this ??

please update your KiSS DP-500 with the newest firmware 2.6.6
with firmware 2.6.6, you can play files with GMC and DIVX 3.11

You could try playing the file back using ffdshow with the OSD enabled.

@Mr_Khyron - I already did ... thus my need to "only" detect whether QPEL is used or not.
@celtic_druid - I tried this, but fddshow doesn't provide this info ...
So - I'm back to square-one ... there must be a [simple] way to be able to derive this information on ones PC ???

The OSD of ffdshow is configurable, and while playing xvid movies encoded with qpel I do see qpel displayed (I think under frame type - make sure you are decoding the video with ffdshow, it doesn't work if you have 'decode with xvid' checked).
Imho newest versions cant show the qpel frames.But older versions can.Get an older version and try
