I'm using the ProCoder plugin in Adobe Premiere 6.5 to encode my home DV movies to DVD. Premiere detects the project, and the imported video as interlaced with lower field first.
In fact, I read somewhere on the net that the standard for NTSC is lower field first.
I then went on and tested TMPGEnc, CCE and finally ProCoder.. I gave up on CCE-SP (2.50) and would leave it for my SVCDs only since the M2V video it creates doesn't work with Ulead DVD workshop without Ulead needing to re-encode the video! The other 2 work fine with it!
TMPGEnc worked ok, slow, but the video was ok.. I finally did a conversion with ProCoder, and just like TMPGEnc, it detected that the field order should be lower first..
Well, it wasn't! The video was very jumpy! I ended feeding the M2V through pulldown and telling it to reverse the field order to upper first, and then it showed fine on the TV! Is this right!? Anyone else noticed it??
Further more, on my P4-2.53Ghz machine, with 756MB RAM and running Windows XP.. ProCoder takes 30 hours in MQ to encode 1.5 hours of video.. that's a JOKE! How the hell do you speed it up and leave the same quality (which by the way is noticably better than the NTSC DVD TMPGEnc template).
