Improving Cable TV

I have regular Cable TV (NTSC, US).

I have been experienceing two problems.
Diagonal lines that appear to be moving on the screen.
And overall graininess.

This is due to some sort of interference, but I'm not sure how to get rid of it or filter it out.

Is there anything special I can try, tin foil, capcitors, etc.

In the long run..

I think that, about the best you can do is have a prof. come in and
actually see the level of noise (poor quality) you are having, and
to explain your sutation w/ him/her (that you capture this and create
VCD's) and that this noise impacts negatively on your projects.

I know that they can do a number of things to help clean up your line.
But, it's gonna take some doing, cause you don't want this person to
make more than one visit. Put him through the mills, if you have to.
It's you money.

Well, I'm pretty sure the Diagoanl lines problem is pretty common.

I think the grainyness is due to low signal integrity, but I'm not sure.

You would think after so many years of Electrical Engineering, I would have learned something.

Well one of them high quality Motorola or Toshiba cable amps that sell for around $70 is about the best thing to do, or call the cable co & tell them to, which sometimes only helps short term, best to get a amp.

Actually, when we got cable installed in the house, they gave us an Amp because they said we had more than six outlets. (although we only have 3 TV's including my computer.)

I do not see the diagonal lines on the other two TV which leads me to beleive that its either the TV tuner or the cable I am using or something about the room the computer is in.

I know that the general distortion (not diagonal lines) gets worse when I take my case off.
