Here's my conundrum. I have a PAL version of a layer-2 DVD. I want to convert it to NTSC DVD-R (single layer). How do I go about this? I suspect I should use something like: DVD Decrypter 3.1.6; DVD2DVD-R 1.49 CCE SP 2.5; Bitrate Viewer 1.5; eclCCE 1.5a; and Scenarist. Can anyone help, I've searched to no avail. Thanks.

I am afraid that assembling such a guide is a huge task, especially when all the info for each individual step have been covered in detail in this board.
Since u give us no information on your backup skills, I would suggest to follow any guide and the posts here that would teach u to backup a dvd in the same format as the original and after succeding in it, search for the PAL to NTSC conversion thread by Easy2BCheesy, also to be found here, to convert the video stream to the other format.
Each step is covered in detail in the board and the guides at doom9.
Best of luck.
I ll be more than happy to assist u in any specific problem that could rise.
First of all, I'd like to second oddyseus's advice (and just for starters, here's (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45459) the current state of play with 'high quality' software PAL-NTSC/NTSC-PAL video conversion).
Secondly, I'd like to be honest with you and tell you that what you wish to do is possible, but is, frankly, going to be more trouble than it's worth, unless you have absolutely no other alternative, and must undertake the conversion. Such conversions are absolutely fraught with problems (audio desynch', jumpy frame motion etc.).
It's an admirable technical challenge, but I really would consider buying an NTSC version of your disk instead, because the quality of a Pal-2-NTSC disk will never be as good as a native NTSC disk, and the hours you spend on the various procedures would probably pay for a commercial NTSC disk 5-10 times over.
Not being pessimistic - just being realistic!

I agree with you Arky! :)
I tried to do the same. I accomplished it but have ghosty video after spending nearly 2 weeks.

Nevertheless, congratulations for achieving the conversion! You have my respect for that, even though it didn't come out 100% perfect.
